He was nothing more than a child. No more than 5 at the time as he held his parents hands and looked around the strange room. It was a large room with several benches and a large podium in front of him. His crystal blue eyes looked up at the man who was sitting at the large podium, looking through several papers in his hand. Hariric looked up at his mother, long blond hair flowing down her back which he had inherited from her.

The poor child wanted to ask 'what's going on mama?' but was too scared to do so. He then looked up at his father whose messy, light brown hair was reflecting off the light that was coming in through the window that his father was near. As he looked between his two parents, he couldn't help but feel worried at why they looked as though they were mad. So much he wanted to know what was going on, but too scared to try and speak.

"Alright," the man at the podium finally spoke, breaking the silence in the room and causing Hariric to look up at him. "The child will stay with his mother and will only visit his father once a month."

"Thank you your honor," the two said in unison. Hariric felt his blood run cold as he felt his father pull away from him and start walking away. He turned towards him, staring at his back.

"Papa?" the child asked as he watched his father continue to walk without looking back at him. "Papa!" Hariric wanted to pull away from his mother, but her grip on him was too strong. He looked up at his mother, feeling tears form in his eyes. "Mama! What's going on!?"

"Hariric…" his mother softly said as she knelt down and looked at him with saddened look. "Your father and I have decided to get divorced…"

"Huh..? What does that mean?"

"It means that it'll just be me and you from now on and you'll only see your father once in a while."

"W…What…?" Hearing this wasn't something Hariric liked very much. He didn't understand it much at the moment, but the way it sounded didn't sit right with him. He was only five after all and didn't understand much of what a 'divorce' was.

His mother pulled him into a hug, crying a bit. "Please don't worry… we'll be fine without your papa." Hariric felt the tears fall from his eyes as he hugged his mother back. Whatever had happened had made his mother sad and he didn't like that much either.

The only thing that Hariric knew to say was: "O-Okay…"

The rest of the day was just him and his mother sitting at home and eating. Even if he couldn't understand what was going on at the moment, he felt lonely without his father there. It was a strange feeling of emptiness in his heart as he sat there with his mother. As far as he could remember, his father had always been there. So, why was everything so different now and what caused something like this?

Hariric slightly shook his head as he looked up at his mother. Her emerald green eyes were still watery and that hurt him more than anything. A small smile appeared on his face as he walked up to his mother and hugged her.

"It's okay mama. Everything will be okay."

Those simple words coming from her son seemed to comfort her as she hugged her child back. "You're so caring, Hariric. I love you."

"Love you too~" Hariric smiled happily, continuing to hug his mother. He didn't need a complete family to be happy, right? That's why he felt the need to make his mother happy when he could. Maybe that's just what he needed to do.

Again, placing this back up
